How to start
Let them lick paste off the brush for a few days before you brush anything. Then do a few teeth at a time. Building tolerance takes a couple of weeks and skipping that step is why most people give up.
Honest limits
Brushing removes soft plaque. It does not remove hardened tartar — that needs a vet, under anaesthetic. If your animal already has visible brown build-up or bad breath, book the vet first and brush afterwards to keep it clear.
Never use human toothpaste. Fluoride and xylitol are toxic to dogs and cats — use a paste made for animals.
The 2 cm opening suits an average adult finger. If yours is larger, it will be tight.
